Facts
Madame Tussauds originates from the 18th Century, when Madame Marie Tussaud learned the art of wax modelling, and created her first figurine, of Voltaire, in 1777.
The famous Chamber of Horrors exhibition has been providing a spine-tingling experience for visitors at Madame Tussauds London since 1846.
It can take up to six months to create a wax figure, artists must meticulously measure every detail, like perfectly matching hair colour and eye colour.
Celebrities themselves often contribute to their figurines, providing personal items like clothing and accessories to make them even more true to life.
The figurines undergo regular maintenance to ensure they stay realistic, artists touch up the wax, replace hairstyles, and update the models to reflect any changes in the celebrity’s appearance.
