Delve into the world of apothecary, potions, and voodoo at the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum. It's housed in the 1823 Creole apothecary of America’s first licensed pharmacist, Louis Dufilho Jr, and it's home to 200-year-old bottles of potions and medicines.
Explore two floors of the museum and you'll learn all about the history of pharmacy, medicine, and healthcare in New Orleans. There's everything from perfumes and cosmetics to voodoo potions and surgical instruments. The historic courtyard also has its own medicinal herb garden and relaxed seating areas.

An Unexpected Surprise and a Must See
Carol and Duke ·We never anticipated the historical depth of this self-directed tour. Pair this with the New Orleans School of Cooking demonstration, which is around the corner. Suggest arriving at 11 / it was very busy by the time we left for our 2 pm cooking demo. An absolutely phenomenal museum leaving one with a tremendous appreciation for modern medical practices and pharmaceuticals if and when needed - providing we have access. Nearby is the Galleria Bella, the artwork is beyond descript and well worth a visit. Jen Riffer a wealth of knowledge regarding each piece and the artists. Beauty to be seen. We made this a day and highly recommend combining the three - start with the gallery first.
