Perfume mini workshop by Fragonard
Go on a journey through the history of perfume at the Fragonard Musée du Parfum in Paris before creating your very own fragrance to take home.
What you'll do
Step inside for a guided tour that reveals cabinets of curiosities showcasing beautiful artifacts and ephemera from the history of perfume-making. Highlights include an ancient Mesopotamian kohl vase hewn out of chalk, a fine silver-gilt pomander from the Middle Ages and an ornate Louis XIV perfume burner.
Learn about some of the planet’s best-loved floral fragrances, including Chinese osmanthus, Italian bergamot and Australian sandalwood, and visit the stills room to discover how scent is extracted from their flowers through the process of distillation.
Established in the city of Grasse a century ago, the Fragonard perfumery celebrates a different flower every year. During your workshop, you’ll learn about this year’s chosen bloom, before being guided through the process of creating your own ‘flower of the year’ eau de toilette. The resulting scent is yours to take away as a 12ml bottle spray.
This olfactory journey through the history of perfume includes a short guided tour of Fragonard’s Musée du Parfum.
Close to other major Paris attractions including the Paris Opéra and Louvre Museum, Fragonard’s Musée du Parfum is set in an attractive 19th-century townhouse in the 9th arrondissement.
