What you'll do
Built in the early 1800s to immortalize the heroics of Napoleon’s Grande Armée, the Arc de Triomphe is a majestic monument to French successes in the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
Standing proud at the center of Place Charles de Gaulle, with 12 grand avenues leading off the circus, the Arc de Triomphe is an architectural icon and a symbol of Paris.
Instantly recognizable and deeply evocative of the military history of France, the Arc de Triomphe provides a glimpse into France’s social past as well as spectacular views across central Paris. Step out onto the viewing deck to enjoy fantastic views over the City of Love in every direction.
And don’t miss the poignant Eternal Flame which burns at the arch’s base. Signifying the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the flame burns as a constant memorial to the fallen soldiers of World War I.
