At the museum at Birka you can learn more about the exciting history of Vikings through the fascinating exhibitions which depict what day to day life in Birka would have been like during Viking Age. Viking houses
The Viking houses at Birka are perhaps the most popular attraction. RichardAn enjoyable and very interesting day out. Lovely journey on the lake via various islands. Really interesting guided tour of Birka - plenty of detailed information and interpretation of the site.
Simply beautiful
MohaThe journey includes a 2 hour boat ride to the island and back (4h total), where there is a museun, restaurant, and some experiences to see. There is guided tour in english, and the guides are very friendly. You are free to opt out of the guide and walk the island yourself. It's beautiful in nature, nice mossy stones, walk between plains and little forests. You can spot farm animals, little frogs, and birds all over the island. This experience is perfect if you're visitong Stockholm, and would like to connect with nature after days of being in the city. Some tips: Try to get to the boats early, as it can fill up quick, and the seating options might not be comfortable later. We even had some people standing. The bar on the ship is also not open all the time, so bring some food. And in our case we caught some rain, where they'd still not let us on the boat early, so everyone standing in line got soaked.

C. McOverall the tour was good. The Guide was fantastic. The boat ride was enjoyable, especially liked the made to order ham and cheese sandwich. What was extremely disappointing was that the Viking town shut down a little more than an hour before the boat departed. We had saved that for last, but once we arrived everyone but 2 people were gone, and the ones there ignored us. So we missed out on a major part of the tour.
