What you'll do
If you don't have much time but want a taste of the Stockholm archipelago, take a short boat trip out to beautiful Fjäderholmarna Island.
Fjäderholmarna consists of four islands, a little east of Djurgården island. It's a 25-minute boat ride over to Fjäderholmarna and when you arrive, you'll find outdoor café, restaurant and a well known smokery. If you want to spend a full day here, you can visit the local craftsmen, the museum and the brewery to try Swedish whisky or beer. During the summer it hosts numerous concerts and events throughout the warmer months.
Fjäderholmarna is the perfect destination for a day out for both locals and tourists who flock to experience the beautiful islands, stunning natural landscape, beaches, restaurants and get a real sense of Stockholm archipelago atmosphere.
Facts
There are four islands that make up the Fjäderholmarna: Stora Fjäderholmen, Ängsholmen, Libertas and Rövarns holm.
The islands are part of The Royal National City Park, created in 1995
The name Fjäderholmarna comes from the two Swedish words; fjärd which means narrow coastal inlet; and the word holm which is means little islands, i.e. Fjäderholmarna means ”the little islands in the coastal inlet”.
