New exhibition showing: Vikings Before vikings
Step back in time and uncover the fascinating story of a 1,300-year-old battle. On the Estonian island of Saaremaa, near the village of Salme, over 40 Scandinavian warriors were laid to rest in two ships, buried alongside their weapons and gear. This remarkable discovery is brought to life through an immersive exhibition featuring astonishing artefacts, gripping historical insights, and interactive experiences. Learn about the fallen warriors, explore their world, and even try your hand at rowing like a true Viking.

Facts
There are around 17,000 known wrecks in Swedish waters, and the Baltic Sea may contain up to 100,000 wrecks in total.
The Baltic Sea's unique preservation conditions have allowed a huge number of wrecks and other remains to be exceptionally well-preserved.
In 2021, maritime archaeologists from Vrak – Museum of Wrecks and the Swedish Navy discovered Äpplet, the sister ship of the famous Vasa.
