SPRITMUSEUM highlights
Love X Attraction in Absolut Art Collection – see works from the renowned Absolut Art collection, picked out by artist Blue Caroline Falkholt and poet Anna Axfors. Power relations, heteronormativity and desire are subjects explored in this colorful display, with the main objective to manifest true love.
True Crime exhibition – discover the mind-boggling stories about a gang of tricksters defying the authorities and taking the law into their own hands. Find out about their creative methods of getting around the strict liquor laws that were limiting their plans.
Sweden: Spirits of a Nation, Permanent exhibition – learn all about Swedish alcohol history, through films, objects, smells and music. Why do we “toast”? What’s the origin of the drinking (schnapps) songs? And why do we have an alcohol monopoly?
Taste the museum – keep an eye out for the tasting trays to get your own little taste of the exhibitions.
The restaurant – centered on Scandinavian flavors and drinks, the restaurant offers a wide selection of Swedish craft drinks including beer, cider, wine and gin. Don’t worry non-alcoholic options are available too.
Did you know?
- The Swedish word “supa”, meaning to drink copiously, comes from the old practice of sipping spirits from a spoon (like you would with a bowl of soup!).
- The sigil on the Absolut Vodka bottle features the portrait of L.O. Smith, known as the King of Vodka in Sweden during the 19th century.
