    • Please note: the palace may be closed occasionally due to official events.

Featuring on UNESCO's World Heritage list, Drottningholm Palace is the most well-preserved royal castle built in the 1600s in Sweden and at the same time is representative of all European architecture for the period.

The Palace is also the permanent home residence of their Majesties the King and Queen of Sweden. The rooms in the southern wing of the palace are reserved for this purpose. The rest of the palace and grounds are open to the public year-round.

The Drottningholm Palace style and architecture was inspired by 17th and 18th French models such as the Chateau de Versailles and was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1991. The parterres you can see at the waterfront are reconstruction of the originals from 1723.
