Museum of the Cinema
The Museum of the Cinema is a must-see for film fans
What you'll do
The Museum of Cinema celebrates the love of film; preserving its past glories and inspiring a new generation of cinephiles.
The cinema has played a vital role in French culture since its invention. What will you find in the Museum of the Cinema? 40,000 films, 23,000 posters, 14,500 drawings, 500,000 photographs, 21,000 books, 2,100 costumes, 870 advertising materials, 2,300 decorative objects and more.
The building itself is worth the visit. Designed by Frank Gehry, who also created the Bilbao Guggenheim museum, envisioned the museum as a maze of light and dark intended to evoke a projection booth. Two distinct facades define the exterior. The street side is austere with straight lines but whimsical on the park side.
